A 25 year old girl, from my neighborhood committed suicide last week. It was very painful for me to believe it since I had a daily interaction with that family. How can one become so hard and end the life? Many people in the world today end their lives without knowing the meaning of life. Everyday looking at news papers, we come across at least two to three instances of suicides. (more…)

Shekhar,
This letter is as good as an SOS call. I am leaving this at your parents place because I knew no other place I could track you. Although I shared a few things with your parents but I hope this letter will help you to know the whole story. It’s not about me, my health, your career or anything else but it’s about our son Rahul. Few days ago I was attending an official meet from our compnay at Ahmedabad Management Association. As usual there’s no proper parking space at the institute so there where hundred’s of car parked on the road. I along with three of my other collegues having not found any place parked our cars outside a society’s gate. In the midst of the meeting on of my collegues who’d to leave early for an appointment called me franatically saying that “all my four wheels have been punctured”. Initially I thought that he’s just joking, but it was not so as he franatically called me and texted me eventually forcing me to come down. And what do I see? All four wheels out of air. And not only mine all three cars where punctured, in all twelve tyres! (more…)

It was sad to read the story of Chitra Parmar in the morning today. Depressed over a failed love affair, this 20-year-old student of National Institute of Fashion Design, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan on Sunday evening. In the suicide note she said she was taking the step because she could not get over the fact she had been jilted by her lover Hiren Patel. She also named three more people as responsible for their break-up. Finally she apologised to her parents in the suicide note. (more…)

Son,
I was concerned about the news that was reaching my ears and that is exactly why I am writing to you. In the past six months, our village has lost three of its cherished sons in the U.S. and all of them I believe could not live up to the mounting pressures of life and these uncertain days. I hope this letter will reach you in time, because I know you too are not finding it easier to keep your job, especially after the scandals that have broken out here. (more…)

The entire nation (and in fact a few more nations) is still ranting and raving because of the despicable carnage that it was forced to watch helplessly (which need not have been relayed live to this extent in the first place) and breathlessly even as a few (no one knows for sure how many) perverse and fanatic young men held a host of our army and other security men on their toes and positions for about 60 hours needlessly killing hundreds of men, women and children of diverse religion and race in the due course and damaging property worth millions and much worse, denting the image and morale of this allegedly glorious nation (glorious perhaps only by its own definition and that definition too perhaps acceptable only to not the whole of itself)! A mask, the nation, at least at the socio-political level, is inwilling to put off! Let me show you the masks associated with the Mumbai event! (more…)

Hey Freddy,
I reached Mumbai a week back in search of a better job and opportunities. But I have been missing those beaches and the time that we used to spend watching those beautiful waves, sipping lemonade, our hangouts near D’Souza restaurant and those football fields.
Here you get the real taste of city life. The huge population, the busy streets and stations, rush hour, the confluence of the rich and poor, skyscrapers overlooking hutments and slums, brightly lit buildings hosting glitzy and glamorous events and the hungry man who begs on the roads and sleeps on the streets.
