Peril in the Skies

Friday, June 4th, 2010

What’s happening to our planes suddenly! What’s happening to the Indian flights! There have been at least four incidents in the last fortnight in which one of the incidents resulted in the loss of 158 lives, including the crew! Again another flight almost landed into an already parked aircraft on the runway! Be it an overstressed flight crew or the ground-staff (ATC) that maybe the reason for all these, but there surely is too much appearing to be at stake in the skies for now!

I never forget to say a small prayer of thanks to God whenever my flight is about to take off and immediately before and after it lands safely too. After reading about these close shaves, I should say that every take off and landing has been a favor granted! Some of you may shirk at the thought of thanking God for everything! Why to ascribe all favours to Him! If so, then let me tell you, I am sure there maybe times in your life when you really want to thank someone for something or for some situation in your life and then suddenly you realize that you don’t know whom to thank! This blog would be best understood if you can read it once you’ve read my last blog – “What drove him to the grave?”.
I was in Australia with one of my best friends, discussing with him and his daughter who was shattered by the suicidal death of one of her friends. She wanted to share a few questions with me, for which she was seeking answers very desperately. One of her main concern was, whether she would be able to meet her friend or talk to him any more? What exists beyond death? Would she ever have a chance to meet her friend? (more…)

I was visiting Australia and was at the home of one of my good friends, who since the time I meet him at the metro station, would keep telling me about his daughter and the pain she’s going thru. As the strong man drove his huge 4 x 4 truck, I could feel that he was vulnerable, all the strength and grit that I admire him for had somehow been weakened. (more…)

A Final Step in Search of Meaning of Life?

Friday, September 18th, 2009

A 25 year old girl, from my neighborhood committed suicide last week. It was very painful for me to believe it since I had a daily interaction with that family. How can one become so hard and end the life? Many people in the world today end their lives without knowing the meaning of life. Everyday looking at news papers, we come across at least two to three instances of suicides. (more…)

Coming out of darkness

Hi Tizzy,

You might be wondering why I walked out of our relationship and how it all came to an abrupt end. Well, for me it was never a relationship in the first place but just a ‘one minute stand’ that we used to share every now and then when we had nobody else to hook up with on that day. I would like to say that I have been bailed out for one lasting relationship. (more…)

PORNSTEIN

Dear Cathy,

I want to tell you my story before you decide to marry me. I don’t want to keep you in the dark about who I am because I feel it would be shocking and painful for you when you know this after our marriage.

I was born in to a rich family and both my parents were doing well with their careers. Dad was an investment banker and mother was a doctor. So there was never any need in life except the need to be loved. Both of them stayed extremely busy, for them to spend some time with me. I was always taken care of by a nanny who would be enjoying the delicacies in the fridge while I would be in my room, surrounded by battery run toys and stuffed animals for company. (more…)

Shekhar,

This letter is as good as an SOS call. I am leaving this at your parents place because I knew no other place I could track you. Although I shared a few things with your parents but I hope this letter will help you to know the whole story. It’s not about me, my health, your career or anything else but it’s about our son Rahul.
