Disagreeing to Agree

By: Pooja (June 3rd, 2008)

A frustrated jobless youth strangled his mother to death for denying him money and kind of taunting him on his state of life!

The news left me in a shock. The mother who bears so much pain to give birth to her baby and just forgets about her pain totally for that joy that captivates her when she sees the little life in her hands, a part of her being.

This youth did not even remotely hesitate to kill his mother, let alone feeling any pain or remorse. It seems relationships do not matter any more in our educated, scientifically advanced world.

The world rather values the robots (that will catch the waves of your mind and do exactly what you want) more than the living human beings that live around, as the “dear” ones who are no more so dear, I guess.

Today’s generation is “impatient” more than anything. They want to call the shots everywhere and anywhere. They disagree to agree with others. But what will happen if everyone wants to dictate terms for everything. I’m sure we all can see the results in our present times. The desparate and frustrated youths react very violently if u just simply express your disagreement with them. You can see the examples in every other home. They do not want to talk to anyone, they do not want anyone to ask them anything, they want everyone to accept whatever they say and do, and not disagree on anything!

It scares the elders to even dare to scold these youths in today’s date! Who can dare to say anything to their loved ones even if its for their good, in today’s world where a brother hangs himself for just a small argument over the remote control of the television; and there are so many similar news to state.

Everyone wants to take revenge. Some hurt others heartlessly in extreme ways and some hurt themselves to hurt others. The aim is to take revenge somehow. Now, which father or mother would want to stand in disagreement with their kids if the results are such. After all who wants to become the reason for the death of their near ones. Its a very sad scenario.

Why do such things happen? Why our youths have become the way they are today? What should we do? How do we help them? These are the issues of concern that pass every mind. Is there any hope of better tomorrow…? Do you even think about it?

I would like to appeal to the society to atleast start thinking on these issues, dont just sit quiet and be a spectator, who knows their turn maybe next….n who knows tomorrow the same thing may happen with us too…

Parents, set an example for your children, teach them when they are young, so that when they grow up, they will not forget the lessons…instil in them the fear of the Lord…which will bring wisdom…

We must all learn to respect and honor our elders, it brings a blessing. This is the first command of God that is attached with a blessing. It doesn’t mean that we listen to all they say and blindly do it. Instead of disagreeing to agree with elders, I think the next generation should listen, pause, think and act. Disagreements augur well, if taken in the right spirit and viewed with gratefulness. One also needs to think, that elders disagree for the heck of it, or is it love in the background that compels their disagreements. I think most often than not, its the latter.

Let’s appreciate and respect the views of others, especially if they are our elders, albeit, a very different view.

God Bless

It’s really a serious matter to think. In my view, not only youths, but parents and neighbourhood are also responsible for such situation. The biggest question about socialization, how will it lead the future.

pooja raises an important question ‘what will happen when everone wants to dictate terms for everything ?’….. well then i think the principle of survival of the strongest will apply….the strong will overcome the weak…the rich will overcome the poor…. At the cost of what is right (truth)…. Till somebody who sets the rules (the creator of all things) intervenes !
