Hire your desire!

When the generation of the 50s-70s worked a good 25 plus years to buy a decent house with minimum facilties and bought a car after the age of 40, the new generation is buying a much costlier and better equipped (loaded) or rather luxurious house at a much earlier age (early 30s) and this generation is also buying a car much earlier too. Of course the myriad professional options have resulted in greater opportunities for earning, but the thrust has mainly come in from easier funding - credit. However, there are still things out there that even credit will not allow many of the big dreamers to acquire.
Satiated at a much earlier age, it takes much more to now challenge and satisfy these young turks. High ticket paraphrenalia, available at the malls and exclusive shops, or even in the high-end shops don’t catch their attention at all. They are aiming much higher, at things not even in the luxury list of the average citizen (muggles!). The boundaries have been pushed much higher (monetarily). Now, what’s enabling these proponents of “dare-to-dream” to fulfil their dreams and desires has nothing to do with wizarding, but its the age old business of ‘Hiring’ and ‘Renting’!
I am reminded of an interview of Amrita Arora that I read sometime back. While she was in college, the authorities once required her to bring her dad to the college. That was the last thing she had on her mind and so on the D-day, before entering the college, she asked an old gentleman outside the college to be her dad for some time with a promise to recompense! He obliged! At this point, I really wonder if I should be referring to him as a gentleman at all! Amrita escaped scot-free that day. I don’t know how much she paid that man, but her “Rent-a-Parent” trick did work.
This was quite some years ago. However, this hiring and renting mode has caught on greatly since then. You can rent a jet, a yatch, wall paintings, luxurious cars like mercedes and limos, house keeping staff, branded purses and goggles from French and Italian houses, swiss watches, diamond studded ornaments, designer suits from biggest fashion houses of Europe, designer wedding dresses etc. The business is so brisk that gardens, wedding guests, tv audience, women body guards, womb and many more things have got added to the list!!
Well, for most of the things in the above list, the reason that most people are opting for renting or hiring is two fold:
1) Restrictive prices and/or
2) Need for periodic maintenance.
Many a businesses are cashing in on this new trend and investing heavily into collecting an inventory to meet the needs (read fancies) of the increasingly demanding hirers and rentors!
Looking at the way in which this trend is catching up with the upwardly mobile, many of these companies will surely be lured by a potential for expansion by bringing down their price tags, in exchange for higher volumes. And very soon, me and you will be scouting for the best deals in these luxurious indulgences, the absence of which will neither effect our health, status nor purpose! Nevertheless, all of us will be charmed by it. Such is the nature of man.
You have a dream? You have a desire? You are not able to get them because the prices are exhorbitant or beyond you or if the maintenance irks you, these companies will get them for you! They say, “The goods and its benefits are yours, the hassles are ours”!! You just need to cough up a fraction of the price and still get what you want for a stipulated time! Interesting! Making it easy to indulge and splurge. Bringing your wildest dreams within your reach and hardly a price to pay along the way!
And when in a few years, the generation in its late 20s or early 30s will be owning jets and yatchs and limos and wearing only designer stuff, these hiring companies will be selling space journeys, space on the space stations, homes under the ocean, and designer airplanes or anything else that the rapidly paced technology will make available by then. And will that finally satisfy man. Never.
Every generation will therefore pass away in a state of ‘quest’! In a state wherein they realise that they didn’t reach where they should have!
The ‘Hire’ or ‘Rent’ option is a maze that keeps man’s interest alive in things he doesn’t have right now, but can have at measly price, leaving him engrossed in self-pleasure, not caring much about things that matter and people that suffer. A careful relook, especially at the way things have been in the recent past, will make you understand what I mean.
The Bible says, God has placed an infinity (eternity) in the heart of man. Only an infinity (eternity) can fill it. In short, only God can fill it. No amount of money, credit or hiring can ever satisfy man. What really matters is available to every man, right now. He only needs to look. God is close to those who draw near to Him. No one can hire him or own Him. He comes to share Himself.
