Everybody wants and discusses freedom when confronted with such a situation or a similar one. But no one discusses accountability. That's because, as rightly said here, it curbs individual freedom.

That's the missing perspective in modern society. I am free but that doesn't mean I drive on the wrong side of the road. I am not only endangering others but also endangering myself.

But as they say, you can wake up a sleeping person. But you can't wake up a person who is pretending to be asleep.

Good article...

Thanks for your response Margaret.
Well, you are right. It could have been a case of incest. However, the paper cites no such possibilities so we can't speak about it unless we know more.
The easiest assumption is to assume a third person.
When a 15 year old does things of this magnitude, despite her seriousness and commitment into the relationship, it still can only be categorised as a fling. Infact, its a criminal offense under Indian law, despite mutual consent. The guy can be arrested.
The TOI reports that neither the girl nor her relatives had any clue of hers being pregnant, let alone talk about it. No one knew about it!
I am not sarcastic about anyone in person, because, neither their names or people group or religion or caste is mentioned. I am sarcastic about the whole casualness to pre-marital sex that is emerging throughout India and the results of it.
You are right about compassion and prayer. First compassion and then prayer. When we encounter such people, that's the way we try to approach, and more so if we are cognizant of it. But prayers without compassion are not of much benefit. Without knowing anything about the case, being compassionate is a good trait but the result remains to be in an area of probablity rather than certainity.
Thanks for your feedback Its appreciated. It keeps the blogs balanced and throws up perspectives that we may sometimes miss out on. So keep doing it. God bless.

Has the author ASSUMED that it was a fling the girl went for before and after the pregnency?
Has the author taken for granted that the matter was discussed with the mother? What if the mother was a step mother, who did not care sufficiently? There are many cases of sexual abuse by the family members(father, brother, uncle, etc) themselves? What other OPTION did the girl have besides delivering the baby after discovering that she is pregnant?
Can you please specify whom are you being sarcastic about?
I feel the entire issue needs compassion and prayer.
Even when the adulterous women was brought to Jesus to be judged, He wrote something on the sand and EVERYONE left...

Hi I visited this blog for the first time (thanks to my friend Vinay Umarji) and have found it brilliant. The author is absolutely right. This incident was an unbelievable example of callousness on the part of the parents and the young girl and her partner...and would like to reassure the author that his tone is absolutely justified....freedom thats unaccountable isnt freedom at all

Good..
...Instead of taking a stand against all these things, the girls themselves are supporting it!
These kinds of articles can really bring lot many changes in the society..
