Prolific Profligates

You must understand this, that in the last days distressing times will come. For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, brutes, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to the outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid them!

Since over a decade, thousands of British teens head for Crete, a Greek island, for their holidays. They usually stay over for about a week. A very chaste and innocent choice at face value but in this one week’s time, they create mayhem on the island.

Instead of heading for the beach and the sunshine, one of the teen girls is rushing towards the medical centre! Extremely embarrassed and suffering from a crippling hangover, the young woman mumbles that she needs a morning after pill!

After a night of binge drinking and taking ‘ecstasy’ in the Greek holiday hotspot, she had woken in a bed beside four strange men. Like her, they were all British but then the 24-year-old can’t remember anything from the night before!! So she had no option but to rush for the morning after pill.

The clinic’s manager Dr Emmanuel Katsulis says:

“Each day, around 100 girls come here to get the morning-after pill. Many have slept with three or four boys in a night without using protection. Mainly, the girls are only about 18 or 19! The British teens are like animals. They fight, smash windows, urinate in the street, expose themselves and have unprotected sex on the beach and even in the cemetery!”

“For us, British tourists are a source of comfortable income, but are becoming a growing problem. They take off their clothes and run through the streets… without giving a second thought to the local people. They urinate and vomit and start fights. They bring a lot of money here, but they have destroyed this place,” says a local.

“Beneath the booze, they are just children,” continues Dr.Kastulis, “But when they are drunk, they can be lewd, aggressive and disrespectful. When they are sober, they are embarrassed and apologetic. And when I say I might have to phone their parents, they plead with me not to!”

British press reports that these teens are shaming the nation! But aren’t the teens just doing what they want to? Aren’t they just making the most of life? Aren’t they just doing what the press is ‘around the year’ championing? Who are the press to hold them guilty? Isn’t this the same press that enlightened their minds and instigated them to release themselves from the shackles and sheltering of old fashioned parents in the first place?! Did they not facilitate the “freeing” of this generation from all inhibitions?

Anyways, it won’t even help to identify the guilty. But continuing from yesterday (Reckless Rockers), I propose again that if the Bible (the book from which I have quoted paragraph one) was able to predict the times and moods of today, it should also be having (suggesting) the ways and means to take on these days too. Maybe, it’s guidelines and principles are not acceptable to everyone, but then, isn’t it worth a consideration?

Each man to himself.
