Words of Life

Dear Son,

I want to tell you something that I have been keeping in my heart for quiet some years. This happened thirty years back, when we were a newly married couple and we just wanted to enjoy our married life for the next two to three years before we thought of expanding our family. More than that, in those days I had a not so well paying job of a stenographer in the state government. Your mother had taken up some tuition to help me with the finances and that helped us in making ends meet. (more…)

Hillsongs : Where the church met me

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

I was very excited that morning, the sun was still waking up as I hurriedly changed a few trains and rushed thru the crowd, meticulously following the travel plan in order not to miss the bus from Paramatta Sydney to the Hillsong church. It had been my desire for a long time to attend a worship service at this great church which has blessed nations across the world. My visit had more curiosity and excitement and I was all so much geared and focussed ‘to see’.

You Wear His Coat Very Well

Friday, August 29th, 2008

There is a magnificent story in Marie Chapian’s book “Of Whom the World Was Not Worthy”. The book told of the sufferings of the true church in Yugoslavia, where so much wrong has been perpetrated by the politicized ecclesiastical hierarchy. That which has gone on in the name of Christ for the enriching and empowering of corrupt church officials has been a terrible affront to decency.

One day an evangelist by the name of Jakov arrived in a certain village. He commiserated with an elderly man named Cimmerman on the tragedies he had experienced and talked to him of the love of Christ. Cimmerman abruptly interrupted Jakov and told him that he wished to have nothing to do with Christianity. He reminded Jakov of the dreadful history of the church in his town, a history replete with plundering, exploiting, and indeed with killing innocent people. (more…)

My confessions about Love !

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Its just too hard for me to conceal the giggles and smiles, when I look back at all those teenage and single years, when you are the most curious to know everything about Love, Relationships, Sex, Marriage etc.. Those who have married and are enjoying a deep relationship, I am sure will share these giggles however those who are still in their teens or are single will have their curious eyes brighten up…

We often don’t get it right, that thing called love – and as someone who has been through this route in life, I can tell you that it’s not a pretty sight to be crying your eyes out while being left alone, confused, hurt and bleeding with tissues and napkins mixed in mucous and salty tears. (more…)

End of Season… Sale

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

The newspapers were covered with spine chilling images and reports of the city’s riots and happenings, however another caption that’s been flashed thru the journals was “End of Season Sale, upto -70 % off”. This I guess must have brought a smile on the readers face as they can now buy their favorite brands at such a discounted price.

I believe the end of season sales is the time when the product pricing hits reality. It’s the time when all the glam and glitter of the brand, the brand value, the snob and air around the products hit reality and the prices reflect the actual worth of the products.

Ain’t it true? There is always a time in life when the season ends and things hit reality. The products which were being displayed on real-life like mannequins, the classy jingles, the promises/claims which make it highly desirable and instill a vacuum in our lives, adorned and kept under the glamorous lights within matter of seconds fall down in value. The price tags are cancelled now, the discounts highlight on them. (more…)

Brown Sugar Daddy

Dear Diya,

25 years back, on a cold winter morning, God came to my home wrapped in a small bundle.  A pink smudgy face, tiny arms and legs…. eyes that learnt to speak much before the mouth did…In a flash of a second, i had gone from being a selfish young guy to a man entrusted by God to bring up this tiny ray of hope…this ray of happiness we call Diya…

Oh what a misfit I was at first! Couldn’t hold you properly and had nightmares about dropping you!  Could never get the diapers right and wished there was a mute button on you when you cried all night for no apparent reason!  But I learnt…and I have loved every moment of it….

The Verdict of Counseling

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Husband alleges that wife doesn’t wear modern clothes. Another alleges that wife doesn’t have table manners. Still another felt that his wife didn’t gel well with his colleagues. Another alleged that wife refused to drink in some of the office parties. Another liked someone else after marriage and started finding faults in his wife. One husband was angry because she got out of bed late and didn’t make him the morning tea to sip along with his newspaper. A more enterprising husband felt that his wife didn’t experiment while love making! A wife suspects her husband of seeing someone else due to coming late from office everyday. Another feels that it is not right for her alone to do all the household chores, afterall, she is working too. Another feels that because she washes his inner wear, he should wash her inner wears too! Many other wives do not want to stay with their in-laws. Some are not happy because he gets angry and shouts.
